The Horne Lake Community has a rich history starting with logging in the 1920's.  Horne Lake area had great stands of timber and Thompson and Clarke, the original logging company, obtained permission to build a railway along the north shore of the lake to transport harvested timber. The front lawn on the lake front lots was the path for old steam trains during that period.  Rail spikes continue to be discovered on what we now call the "rail bed".

The "rail bed" now provides a nice flat area for games, gardening and social activities.
